The year 2007 was a seminal one for the Wright Stuff Squadron. We finally completed the restoration and found our way to two airshows and Cessna's 80th Anniversary Celebration. With cash and pilots starting to flow in again, 2008 should be even more exciting than 2007! Here's what was going on in 2007 ...
The Wright Stuff Squadron T-50 took part in Cessna's 80th Anniversary Celebration and introduction of
the new Cessna Mustang very light jet (VLJ) down in Atlanta.
The story and pics
are available in our Articles section.
The Vectren Dayton Air Show was a great success. The public showed a lot of interest in
our Cessna T-50, and we appreciate it greatly. Totally Trotwood
did a story leading up to the air show. Look for us at the Indy Air Show at Mt. Comfort, IN, on August 25!!!
A friend sent me a
presentation (PDF)
illustrating the men and machines of Jimmy Doolittle's raid on Japan.
The Wright Stuff Squadron and its T-50 were featured on
Bucher's Beat today.
Today's show was about how the Wright Stuff Squadron finally got the T-50 restored and that it will
be at the Dayton Vectren Air Show this coming weekend (28-29 JUL 2007).
We were also off to our first public presentation of the T-50 since restoration at
EAA Air Venture 2007 (Oshkosh).
Our T-50 will be in the warbirds section on static display. The full article for this story
can be found here. Lots of cool pictures and videos!!!
The work party this last Sunday (08 JUL) went well. A bunch of work got done both on the plane and in the office. The landing gear were repainted and various things in the cockpit got done. The refrigerator was moved into the office and a bunch of painting got done.
We had some successful flying the weekend of 29 JUN. Stan and Jim
flew around southwest Ohio building time and looking for MIG parts.
Friday night we had "Thank You" rides. Stan started familiarizing
Andrew with the T-50 on Saturday. The web master was out taking
plenty of pictures to showcase the Wright Stuff Squadron T-50.
Pictures of the weekend's flying can be found
here.
We are currently scheduled to do two (2) air shows this year - the Dayton air show in late July and the Indianapolis air show in late August. Check out the events links to the right or check the calendar.
We are pleased to announce that several pilots have joined the squadron - Stan Bloyer, Andrew Malousek, and Jim Holder. Stan flew with CAF check pilot Chuck Harley on 03 JUN on the Bobcat's first flight since the restoration was completed.
Ken Hoelscher has stepped down as Unit Leader and Jeff Mitchell will be serving the remainder of Ken's term. Ken has taken over as Public Affairs officer.
Our T-50 Bobcat has completed its first flight since restoration was completed.
It was a short flight with a few maintenance squawks, which have since been fixed.
The story
is in our Articles section.
Pictures and videos of the first flight are in the article.
