2008 Airshows

Welcome to the Wright Stuff Squadron of Greater Dayton!

The Wright Stuff Squadron is a squadron of the Commemorative Air Force flying a Cessna T-50 "Bamboo Bomber" and Cessna O-2 based at the Dahio Trotwood airport in Trotwood, Ohio. We do public displays at air shows, local airport static displays, and public speaking engagements proudly representing the spirit of the Commemorative Air Force.

If you would like us to speak to your group, display our T-50 or O-2 at your airport, or set up our display booth at your event, please give us a call or email us!

We have a squadron meeting every 3rd Saturday of the month at 1300 (1PM). See our contact page for directions and contact information.

Recent News

Wright Stuff Squadron T-50 and O-2 at the Lancaster, OH, air show 16 Aug. Lancaster is just the way I remember it. You feel like you are a part of the show. You can almost reach out and touch the war birds as they taxi by. We have had a lot of compliments on our aircraft and our group in general. They really talked us up on the PA system. The WSS group worked hard all day with cockpit tours and PX sales. Norb made a larger display of the map of SE Asia with pictures of him in Vietnam in front of an O-2. Marked on the map is places he had flown. Visit our photo gallery for pictures of the Lancaster Air Show.

Wright Stuff Squadron T-50 passing Chicago going to EAA AirVenture 31 Jul. The Wright Stuff Squadron T-50 made it up to Oshkosh again this year. Activities included answering questions during the day and drinking beer at night. It sounds like Stan, Norb, and Dean had fun! Read about the trip in our Multimedia Gallery.

DSC00987.JPG 24 Jul. Thanks to everyone who visted the Wright Stuff Squadron at the Dayton Air Show, and thanks to all of the volunteers. There was only one emergency landing and one butt kicked by Jeff during the entire show :-) Pictures are posted in the Multimedia Gallery.

DSCF0036.JPG 14 Jul. This was our first trip to the Geneseo Air Show. We did a photo flight with the Bobcat, and it looks like we'll be a regular at the event in years to come! Please visit the Multimedia Gallery for the story and pictures!

O-2 Arrival at Wright Stuff Squadron 03 Jul. The Wright Stuff Squadron will be having a picnic at 1400 (2 PM) on Saturday, 05 Jul. The public is welcome! Our Cessna T-50 and newly acquired Cessna O-2 will be on display. As a bonus, another Cessna O-2 will be flying in from Akron to say hi!

O-2 arrival at Wright Stuff Squadron 01 Jul. Thanks to everyone that came out to greet the O-2. Everyone had a great time today, especially the Vietnam Vets. The airplane flew fine, and the engines appear to be healthy. Relatively minor squawks. The only real complaint from Stan was the configuration of the pilot's seat and the length of time he had to sit in it. Something about it being a pain in the butt, literally :-) Again, thanks to everyone that came out and made this possible, including the check pilot who had to fly into Midland from Mesa to make this happen. Thanks Floyd!!! Keep your ears open for a media day for the "official" arrival. We're thinking this will be July 26.

DSC00849 - 1600x1200.jpg 13 May. We just got back from the Pittsburgh Air Show. They had plenty of vintage aircraft there including a C-54, C-123, B-25, B-17, and our T-50. The main act was the Canadian Snowbirds. They always put on a good show. Unfortunately, we were too busy talking about the T-50 with the crowd and giving cockpit tours to get pictures of the Snowbirds. But check out pictures from the rest of the show.

100_0351.jpg 03 May. It looks like the Wright Stuff Squadron will be helping to restore an AN-2. Since we did such a good job recovering our Cessna T-50, word spread, and an owner of an AN-2 in desperate need of a recovering contacted us. The AN-2 is the world's largest single-engine biplane, and the wings aft of the front spar and the tailplane are fabric-covered. Since we only found out about this recently, keep checking back for more information.

DSC00813-1600x1200.jpg 12-13 April. We had our Open House on Saturday, but unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate for the tour of Dayton. Maybe we can do something later in the year. Visit the Open House page to see pictures and video of the event.

Welcome to the 2008 flying season! 2007 was an exciting year after being in restoration for the previous two flying seasons. 2008 will be even more exciting with many more airshow events being worked. A list of airshows we will be attending can be found under events to the left.

One of the more exciting things happening is that the Wright Stuff Squadron is pursuing a Cessna O-2 to complement our Cessna T-50, both Cessna warbirds. Although nothing is set in stone right now, the plan is to ultimately expand the collection of Cessna warbirds.
